The VAFA has continued its reputation as the leading competition for umpiring talent, with half of the umpires promoted to the VFL in 2024 from the VAFA competition.

This latest milestone underscores the association’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in the umpiring group. Out of the eighteen umpires elevated to officiate in the VFL, nine have honed their craft within the ranks of the VAFA. This statistic not only highlights the calibre of umpiring within the association but also serves as a testament to the rigorous training, dedication, and support provided to VAFA umpires.

Through countless matches, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities, they have honed their skills and earned their place to umpire in the State League. Aspiring umpires across Melbourne now have a shining example of what pathways are available if they join the VAFA competition. The VAFA remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing the next generation of umpiring talent, both on and off the field.
